Why the Pineapple?

Why is there a pineapple on your sign?

The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality. In colonial days, when seafaring captains returned to their home ports they were eager to receive friends and visitors at their homes to socialize. They would spike a fresh pineapple, which they would have collected in their travels, on their gate to let neighbors know that they had returned home safely and were receiving visitors. Over time, the pineapple became a more general symbol of hospitality and welcome.

We put a fresh pineapple on our sign at our brewery to let people know that our Tasting Room is open, and we are welcoming visitors. Look for the pineapple and come see us! Cheers!
